swiss trip last year明天又到8.21,--去年的8.21正是在日内瓦,dsfd第一天。
ETH Zurich http://picasaweb.google.com/robotechfan/Zurich
http://picasaweb.google.com/robotechfan/StMoritz
finally, the thesis is donealthough it is still a first draft and probably has many mistakes,
it is finally in a complete form. Safari is goodThe latest version supports Chinese well. And most importantly, it is really fast (much faster than IE and FF). The difference is most appreciable when the connection speed is low. some videos of simulations(1) drop spreading on textured surface
(2) Droplet impact onto a surface
(3) droplet coalescence on a substrate places to reconnect ...It seems the following two websites have become very popular.
But I didn't know them until last month and today.
(1) facebook: http://www.facebook.com/
(2) xiaonei: http://www.xiaonei.com/
They look similar to each other except one is in English and the other, Chinese.
Both have a nice appearance and few ads. The next-generation professors:
Before long there will be some DEM98 guys/girls to join the faculty club.
Who will he/she be ...?
Perhaps I will be able to work with him/her as a postdoc by then, haha ... research log - 21 May 2007 - DAMRDAMR: dynamic adaptive mesh refinement
At present, as far as I know, this (used in parallel with optimal load balancing) may be the most efficient way to solve the continuum equations.

update of this weekThis week I have two job interviews:
(1) 9:30 am, Monday (14 May)
postdoc @ CSIRO, Melbourne, Australia
by telephone
It actually started on 9:45 and ended at about 10:30.
I didn't answer several questions well. :(
But it should depend on how well other rivals did.
(2) 10:00 am, Friday (18 May)
Research Engineer @ IHPC, Singapore
I've learned it is very competitive.

219.76.92.88 research log - 8 Feb 2007This morning, when I had breakfast, I suddenly realized that I made a mistake in a recent plotting.
I had tried to compare my numerical results with some experimental ones.
The plot in the original experimental data was "droplet velocity v.s. droplet position".
But what I had plotted was "droplet velocity v.s. time step".
After I corrected the mistake, the numerical results look closer to the experimental one.
However, the numerical ones are still much larger ...
The reason, I am almost completely sure about, is that the "contact angle hysteresis" (CAH) has not been well modelled.
This is still a pending issue ... some episodes in memory-2006-08-Switzerland#1 "Au revoir" -
(Youth Hostel)
Au revoir",
//blush
-----
#2 "Danke" -
//blush again
#3 On Glacier Express
-----
----- New Year, New StartThree aims in 2007:
1. To submit the thesis in time;
2. To find a research position;
3. To obtain the Taekwondo black belt.
